KHS Board Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Middle School Media Center starting at 6:30.

Board of Directors June Meeting Announcement 

The KHS Board of Directors will have a Meeting on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 6:30 PM, in the Middle School Media Center.

The agenda will include the presentation and adoption of an Internet Safety Policy (ISP), in line with the Child Internet Protection Act (CIPA).

A Message from Our Board

The Kestrel Heights School Board of Directors works closely with Kestrel’s administration to ensure that each and every one of our students’ needs are being met 100% of the time. Board Finance Sub-Committee 

The Board Finance Sub-Committee will meet on the 3rd Tuesday each month at 5:30 PM in the Middle School Media Center.

KHS Board is Seeking Volunteers to Serve on Committee

Attention Staff, Administration, Parents and Members of the KHS Community! Have you been looking for a way to aid KHS? Do you have skills in the academic, finance, human resources, governance, construction or the facilities world? Do you know someone who does? Well we need your help!

The KHS Board of Directors is looking to staff several positions on the Finance, Academics, Facilities, Governance, and Board Development Committees. This is your chance to help influence the future of Kestrel Heights by volunteering or helping us staff these committees.

Here is more information about each:
  • The Academic Excellence Committee is commissioned by and responsible to the Board of Directors to assume the primary responsibility for working with the Executive Director to define academic excellence, ensure that all board members know the charter promises that were made to the community and the authorizer and to devise clear and consistent measures to monitor these goals. The board is looking to staff one position with parent from the KHS community.
  • The Finance Committee has the responsibility for working with the Executive Director and Treasurer to create the upcoming fiscal year budget; presenting budget recommendations to the Board; monitoring implementation of the approved budget on a regular basis and recommending proposed budget revisions; recommending to the Board appropriate policies for the management of the charter organization's assets. The finance committee shall be assisted by the Executive Director and Treasurer. The board is looking to staff one position with KHS staff/administration or someone from the community.
  • The Facilities Committee is commissioned by the Board of Directors to assume the responsibility of developing the permanent school campus and facilities. The board is looking to staff one position with someone from the community with experience in construction and/or facilities
  • The Governance committee is commissioned by and responsible to the Board of Directors to assume the primary responsibility for matters pertaining to Board of Directors effectiveness and evaluation in accordance with the bylaws of the organization, as well as responsibility for established policies and practices approved by the Board of Directors
  • The Board Development committee is commissioned by and responsible to the Board of Directors. Its purpose is to provide for the Board’s continuing recruitment, nominations, orientation, and training in accordance with the bylaws of the organization. The Board Development committee will work closely with the Governance committee to identify Board training/development needs, as well as identifying target skills the Board needs represented by future Board members.

There is a commitment of one year and several hours a week, which will vary with the work that is needed. If you are interested in any of these positions, or know anyone that is, please email board@kestrelheights.org. Please include a resume or description of your relevant skills.

Board of Director Training

Pursuant to § 143-318.10, the Kestrel Heights Board of Directors announce an official meeting on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 in the Middle School Media Center at 5:30 PM prior to the regular scheduled meeting for the following purposes:
Lead a one hour work session developing the committee structure to focus on the three priorities of the organization
Present the requirements to obtain a 10 year charter
Show the tool that can be utilized to verify the components to gaining a 10 year charter

The regular scheduled monthly meeting will still occur at 6:30pm in the Middle School Media Center. This is open to the public.


The Kestrel Heights Foundation

The Kestrel Heights Foundation is a newly created 501c3 organization whose primary mandate is to help Kestrel Heights fulfill its educational mandates and goals through direct financial support cultivated from individuals, organizations and fundraising events as well as corporate sponsorships and partnerships. The foundation was created by the Kestrel Heights Board of Directors as part of the Kestrel Heights 2014-2017 Strategic Plan. Applicants with a background or experience in fundraising, donor cultivation and solicitation, event planning, and grant writing are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications will be taken from March 30 until April 30. Interested candidates can apply by filling out the nomination form, attaching a résumé, and submitting the requested documents to Josephe Featherstone at boardfoundation@kestrelheights.org.
